RCCG inaugurates His Love Foundation

Ahead of its annual Holy Ghost Congress which kicked off Monday, the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) on Sunday inaugurated its global charity arm, “His Love Foundation,” to address critical needs in education, health, prisons, hunger, social enterprise and rehabilitation.

The Special Assistant to the General Overseer on Christian Social Responsi-bility (CSR), Pastor Idowu Iluyomade, flanked by other senior members of the global outreach made the announcement at a media conference in Lagos, pledging that the foundation has perfected plans to feed 50 million persons in 197 countries this month.
Iluyomade, pastor-in-charge of RCCG Region 20 said the foundation had active participation from 42,796 operating centres/parishes in Nigeria with 150 daily feeding centers serving the need of over 1,000 people daily am-ounting to over 150,000 free meals per day nation-wide.

According to him, the tar-get of 50 million free meals project is projected to coincide with this year’s Let’s Go A-Fishing, the mission’s annual evang-elistic ministry across 197 countries worldwide.
“RCCG has successfully implemented in Nigeria from March 2018 to date over 30,626 projects na-tionwide, with hundreds of thousands of projects be-ing done in the nations of the world where the church is operating.

“As a charity organisation, His Love Foundation will achieve stability and reach more people ar-ound the world through institutional partnerships,’’ he said, adding that the church had set up feeding centers across the coun-try to address hunger.
He said thousands of people had already benef-ited from its social rehab-ilitation programmes for prostitutes, drug addicts and other social mis-creants, noting that the foundation had as its slogan “Help for the help-less. Hope for the hope-less. Food for the hungry. Strength for the weak.

In the area of education, Iluyomade said the His Love Foundation had given several scholarships to thousands of people to address the gap in nation’s educational sect-or, pointing out that the foundation had impacted 447 local government areas across the 36 stat-es of the federation touching a total of 11.3 million people from March to date.

Iluyomade, who is also the head of RCCG’s Apapa Family which has endowed N50 million endowment of a Professorial Chair in Mathematics in three Nigerian universities, argued: “To love God and to love our neighbours as ourselves, therein lies the whole duty of man.
“We need to have a com-pelling sense of responsi-bility to our community, which should be rooted in love,” he said in addition to annual CSR outreaches to Kirikiri Maximum Prison with food supplies, medi-cal equipment and furni-ture including tables and chairs, mattresses and pillows, standing fans, generators and educat-ional scholarships.
According to him, CSR is simply a faith-based obli-gation to meet societal needs through the demon-stration of love that posi-tively impacts communi-ties and individuals.
