Mohamed Salah Named 2018 BBC African Player Of The Year
Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has won the 2018 BBC African Player Of The Year Award.
The five nominees were:
Medhi Benatia (Morocco),
Kalidou Koulibaly (Senegal),
Sadio Mane (Senegal),
Thomas Partey (Ghana)
and Mohamed Salah (Egypt).
Salah now joins an illustrious list of names like Nigeria's Nwankwo Kanu, Okocha and Ivory Coast legend Yaya Touré, as the only players to win the title twice.
According to history Salah has won the award in 2017 and has become the first Egyptian to win the BBC African Player Of The Year Award back-to-back.
The 26-year-old helped Liverpool reach the 2017-18 Champions League final last season, scoring 44 goals in all competitions.
VoiceAirMedia research confirmed that the Egypt superstar is also only the third player from the North African nation to win the title after Mohamed Aboutrika in 2008 and Mohamed Barakat, who won in 2005.
He scored both of Egypt's 2018 FIFA World Cup goals - 40% of their all-time total at the tournament.
