Greek Super League Fixtures Suspended After Referee Attack

Greek Super League Fixtures Suspended After Referee Attack!

All Greak Super League Matchday 15 fixtures have been suspended after referees decided to go on strike following an attack on an official outside his house.

Fifa referee Thanasis Tzilos was released from hospital on Thursday after receiving stitches for head and leg injuries caused by an assault.
Tzilos' last match was Olympiakos' 1-1 draw at Xanthi earlier this month.

A statement from the Referees Association read: "As a sign of sympathy we will refrain from our activities until further notice.
"We express our indignation of the cowardly attack against our colleague Thanasis Tzilos and the repeated attacks on referees.

"We will not allow those people to continue trying to terrorise us.
The referees have not set a date as to when they will return to action, but there is hope that an agreement will be reached before matchday 16, which isscheduled for January 12-13th.

SportDab report the federation plans to take action and enforce a program that protects referees from future incidents such as these.
On January 4th, representatives from the EPO, K.E.D, Super League, first division referees, and FIFA/UEFA will meet to discuss this matter among others.
