NANS CALL FOR TOTAL OVERHAULING OF COLLEGE OF HEALTH SCIENCES AND TECHNOLOGY, IJERO EKITI

BEING THE PRESS STATEMENT ISSUED BY THE  LEADERSHIP OF NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIAN STUDENTS  (NANS) ON THE URGENT NEED FOR TOTAL OVERHAULING OF COLLEGE OF HEALTH SCIENCES AND TECHNOLOGY, IJERO EKITI.

NANS DEMAND FOR TOTAL OVERHAULING OF COLLEGE OF HEALTH SCIENCES AND TECHNOLOGY , IJERO EKITI

Solidarity greetings from the apex body of National Association of Nigerian Students, the conglomeration of all Nigerian students schooling at home and in Diaspora.

The NANS leadership commend  the holistic Executive Order of Governor John Kayode Fayemi by removing all illegal levies in public primary and secondary schools in Ekiti State.We believe this will eliminate school dropouts  as well call for more students' enrollment in line with the compulsory and free Education policy of the Federal Government for these categories of pupils.  Truly, IT IS A NEW DAWN IN EKITI STATE.

As we all know that we don't need a century to effect a change, all we need is effective preparation to provoke unusual transformation. NANS strongly call on the new Governor of Ekiti State to as a matter of urgency save the future of the students of College of Health Sciences and Technology Ijero Ekiti from the present Management deliberately put in place by the last Administration of the duo of Fayose and Bayo Ojo.
The entire system in that school is in a comatose and need urgent attention of the student's friendly Governor Fayemi.

What we can not confront,  we can not conquer, it is on record that it was the first term of  Administration of Dr John Kayode Fayemi that the school started receiving Subvention which have been stagnated by the last administration of Fayose despite the sporadic increase in staff strength in the College .It is also amazing that  despite the stupidity and sycophancy being displayed by  Bayo Ojo in supporting Osoko Mass Movement (OMM), no additional kobo was added to the subvention of the College throughout the four years of misruled of Fayose.The College road network and gate are in deplorable conditions.No portable water,electricity, classrooms accommodation that could facilitate conducive teaching and learning.In spite of this the College wasted a
huge amount of the  resources  on a white elephant project tagged " Calabar Project."
Also, it is on record that the Management of the institution forcefully converted our students from their primary objective to Oshoko Mass Movement to the extent of taking students attendance during Fayose electioneering Campaign Rallies.In fact, there was a time that examination was shifted and students were coerced to attend  political rally.Several political rallies were carried within the College premises.

We want the present government to also know that many staff and students were victims of their obnoxious policies and  political blindness. Many students were arrogantly and unjustly expelled  and some staff were shortchanged just to have their way to perpetrate their evil plans.

OUR DEMANDS:
(1) NANS demand for total overhauling of College of Health Sciences and Technology Ijero Ekiti.
(2) NANS call for total reshuffling of  the present Management of the College as majority of its members have soiled their hands  and contributed to the successful failure of  Pastor Bayo Ojo Administration  as the Provost of the College.
(3) NANS demand for immediate removal of present Acting Provost for it is a plot by Mr Bayo Ojo to cover up his dirty deals.
(4) NANS appeal for immediate consideration and reinstatement of all the politically victimized students and staff  members that were persecuted during the maximum reign of the so called Pastor Bayo Ojo.

While we promise the new Governor our full  support as he takes Education as his number one priority just like he did in his first Administration, we also want the entire world to know that Nigerian Students are set to stage a massive protest if urgent action is not taken to save the future of our students in that College.
Until Change is complete, we shall continue to inform and motivate..........we shall never rest.
