MY GIRLFRIEND - EPISODE 10

“I am in love with him but I want him to make the first move, I don’t want to be seen as being desperate” that was Felicia’s statement as I was about to enter the room with drinks in my hand. I decided to pretend as if I never heard anything and so I knocked.

“Can a guy come in?” I said as a matter of protocol.
“Is that Lekan?” one of the roommates asked.
“Yes” I responded politely.
“Noooo! Stay outside o, because you have not been in the room before, mtcheeewww” the voice said as I opened the door and entered the room with no functioning ceiling fan. Felicia’s countenance changed and her speeches became softer, she became more caring and it was written all over her that she was madly in love.

After the whole eating process has been thoroughly carried out, I was set to leave and of course even though Felicia was ready to escort me, it was written all over her that she wanted me to stay more but then, visiting hour was 4pm – 10pm after which anything can be done to any animal on the court.
“Good night ladies!” I said as we were walking out of the room.
“Good night our boyfriend!” about three of the available roommates sarcastically responded as we all laughed at the uttered statement.
On our way out, I decided to bring the emotional topic up first before we will both be carried away with other emotionally irrelevant topics.

“Why did you say yes we are dating in your room?” I gently asked her and happily she responded.
“Because that is what I will say even in the presence of your parents” she said smiling and displaying her ever beautiful dimples.
“Like really?”
“Yes o” she happily responded.
“Does that mean you are willing to be my girlfriend?” I nervously asked her as the atmospheric condition was becoming more tensed and emotional.

“NO! I am not willing to be your girlfriend because I know you have many, but I am willing to be your emotional companion” she said with a very serious tone and expression. Before I could say anything she started talking again.
“I think there is no point hiding what cannot be hidden anymore, there is no point hiding my feelings for you any longer, Olalekan Adeyemi, I am in love with you and I mean it with all of me” she said and took a pause as she started looking down all of a sudden.

“Hmmm…then let us balance the chemical equation the nature has bestowed upon us both” I said as we both stood by the flag spot in front of Mozambique Hall of residence. I lifted her head up and looked straight into her eyes.
“Will you then be my emotional companion?” I said maintaining eye contact with her. There was an initial moment of silence between us as we both stayed glued on the same spot staring at each other until she broke the silence.

“Are you officially asking me out?” she said maintaining the eye contact as we both stood at the flag spot.
“Yes I am Felicia, I want you to come and be an integral part of me, I want you to be my indispensable companion, I want to wake up with thoughts of you and sleep with memories of you, I want you face as the wallpaper of my dreamland”
“And why did you not make your confession all the while?” she asked me with the softest of her soft voice.
"I wanted to fall deeper”
“Hmmmm…so what are you asking me now?”
“I am asking you to be my emotional companion”
“And if I say no?” She said seriously staring at me. “I will gladly wait till you are well convinced of how much I love you.” I nervously said as she as she smiled and kept on staring at me.

“And if I say yes?”
“I will spend the rest of my life proving to you how much I love you, Chukwuemeka Ngozie Felicia.”
“Really?”
“Yes!” I responded.
“So what do you say?” I curiously asked.
“Hmmm…don’t make me regret my decision tonight Olalekan Adeyemi Ayinla” she said as I nervously and speechlessly stared at her. She was about rendering her next speech when Damilola passed by on her way inside Mozambique hall.
“Hey! Lekan what’s up with you, been a while” she said as I had no other choice but to answer her.
“I have been too busy recently like I am right now, we’ll talk later now, chat me up on whatsApp” I said as she walked away.
“Who was that?” Felicia immediately asked upon Damilola’s disappearance.

“She is just one of my friends” I instantly answered.
“Okay o, so back to what I was saying before the mosquito bite, YES! I am ready to be your emotional companion” She said. It was as if the heavens opened the floodgate of happiness and adrenaline on me as I shouted “YES!!!!” lifting my arms up and at the same time calling attention of the passersby.
“Before you will embarrass me let me come and be going” She said as she was set to run away.
“No good night hug?” I said immediately, pulling her back. The hug felt different and she whispered to my ear.
“Let’s chat over on whatsapp, bye.”
