Meet The Uncommon Philantrophist: Dr Audu Musa Idowu

Dr Audu Musa was born on 14th September 1968 in Koro town, Ekiti LGA of Kwara state to the family of late Malam Audu Mohammed (the late Imam of Koro).

A successful medical Doctor from poor background, a perfect illustration of white palp from black pot, product of seal, focus and determination.


Dr Audu attained various leadership positions from his primary school, through Secondary and the University days, he his still a Team Leader in current Job.


Dr Audu Brilliant earned opportunity to be a beneficent of Islamic Development Bank (IDB) Jedah, Saudi Arabia Educational Scholarship Scheme throughout his University Medical school Training.  


Dr Audu Musa have been an uncommon philantrophist, community developer and human capital builder contributing enormously to various community developmental and government transformation initiatives in the state of harmony (Kwara) using his personal resources.

Drug revolving scheme:

In 2006, he subsidise the precurement of essential drugs for all the 12 Health Centres within the 10 political wards in Ekiti LGA kwara State to be sold at affordable price to the community and revolve the fund for sustainability. Set up LGA and Ward Development Committees who were orientated and charged to monitor the scheme in their respective ward.



Support Antenatal Care:

In 2007, he donated maternal laboratory kitz like Haemoglobin strips to test blood level, Albustics for urine test, weighing scale to monitor maternal/foetal growth and some Antenatal drugs (ANC) drugs to all the Health centres in the 10 political wards. The materials were officially received ceremonially in Koro town by the then executive chairman Ekiti LGA, his council members, prominent party executives in Ekiti LGA and traditional leaders.


Support Eye Care for the less privileged:

Between 2008 to 2012, a total of 214 people benefited from the free eye services (71 for surgery and 143 for eye lenses).
It is noteworthy to mention that this eye care program was done in collaboration with Kwara state Sight Savers Organization. 



Scholarship and support to less privileged students:

He has supported over 50 students in higher institutions within Nigeria (more from Kwara and Kaduna states) for scholarship and finance for project writing between 2009 till 2018.


Free Health week: 
 Dr Audu Musa also sponsored free health week for all adults and elderly introduce in 2013, across all the 10 political wards of Ekiti LGA of kwara state. During that week free medical services and drugs were distributed in all the communities with the support from NYSC medical team.


Support payment of adhoc Teachers:

In addition to the Teachers on government pay roll, Koro PTA was paying additional one, Teacher in Koro Grammar school and two Teachers in Koro Primary school as at 2009/2010. He took over the payment of one PTA Teacher in the secondary school and one of the two PTA teachers in Koro primary school for a period of one year 2009/2010.


Support to Local NGOs/ Stakeholders: 
Dr Audu Musa had at various time supported local NGOs youth developmental projects
Acting as Patron for Ifesowapo Social group Koro supported their empowerment program on Fish farm development project. Supported many other social groups in Koro ward and thousands of individuals supporting National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) through scholarships to support projects write up for less privileged students.


Supporting Key political party stakeholders in the state and Ekiti local governments including Elders forum in Kwara state and traditional leaders with gifts during major Islamic and Christian festivals (Rams, rice, milk, sugar and clothes)


His philosophy gesture is second to none, Recently he initiated a youth empowerment project for an aggrieved youth group in the state KWARA ELITE ADVOCATE FOR GOOD GOVERNANCE. The project is targeting establishment of poultry farms, Soap production, barbing salon and cloth weaving.


Dr Audu is  professional Medical Practitioner who started his career as a public health physician working at Primary Health Care level after his youth service. following the award as the best Youth Corps member in 1996/97 NYSC batch B set. He was given automatic appointment by the then Military Governor Col Hameed Ali as the first Medical Officer of Health under Local Government Service Commission in Kaduna state. This position he held until 2005 when he gained employment with United Nation in Nigeria first with UNICEF Nigeria in 2005 and later from 2006 till date with World Health Organization (WHO) as National Program Officer- Surveillance.


He has worked in various states of the country (Jigawa, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Benue, Abia, Enugu and Imo) and currently leading the team of World Health Organization in Borno state as the state coordinator to respond to the level 3 health emergency declared by WHO in North East Nigeria.



It is our prayer and wish that the like of Dr Audu attain more economic and political prominence for kwara and Nigeria to progress.
